TrainingProgrammes

During each academic year, the Educational Section and the Art Workshops of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Crete offer educational programmes addressed to all age groups.

Description of Educational Programmes & Guided Tours
Α. Two-hour creative sessions: Painting & Pottery
The Museum offers special educational programmes inspired by art, with the main objective of familiarising schoolchildren with the visual language.
These programmes provide a wide range of original and interesting educational activities which enable children to learn about the art of pottery and painting in an entirely different way. The children are motivated to cooperate, observe, explore and create.
Teachers and their students can visit the Art Workshops for a creative 2-hour session.
The sessions are held every Tuesday or Thursday at 10:00 – 12:00 am.
The pottery programmes are held at the Art Workshops facility (Himaras 8), and the painting programmes in the Museum (Himaras 5).

Participation costs 2 Euros per child.

Β. Guided tours in the form of experiential programmes
The Museum organises special guided tours for school groups.
The themes of the guided tours are based on the permanent exhibits or the temporary shows hosted at the Museum at each time.
The programmes are held every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 09:00 and 14:00. They last two hours and sessions are held on the MCA premises at 5 Himaras Street in the old city of Rethymnon.
Participation costs 2 Euros per child.

Group participations in the 2-hour educational programmes must necessarily be booked in advance; please contact Ms Constantina Lembidaki on +30 28310 57353 or +30 28310 57353.
Please ring Tuesdays & Thursdays 09:00-14:00 or Mondays & Wednesdays 18:00-20:00.
